Kitesurf in Zanzibar North East.
Established in 2016, Surfescape Zanzibar is one of the first water sport centre specialised in kitesurfing, located in Pwani Mchangani and Kiwengwa, within Surfescape Village Zanzibar and Surfescape Beachfront Apartments. Besides kitesurfing, we offer windsurfing lessons (beginners only) and stand up paddle in Zanzibar.
Teaching conditions are world-class, with a flat, shallow lagoon directly in front of the kite school which not only ensures a fast and progressive learning curve for students but also provides the ultimate training ground for intermediates or experienced riders wanting to improve their technique. 800 meters away (one of the closest in Zanzibar), the reefs awaits kite-surf riders, with a never ending break ranging from 1 to 3 meters. Warm tropical water and steady winds accompany this setting making Zanzibar the perfect European winter destination. The wind averages 15 knots in the season from June to October and around 18 from December to March. The central months of the two seasons are generally the most reliable, although it’s not rare to find good-wind days also in November. Aware that you want a smooth and stress-free experience during your stay in Zanzibar, our VDWS certified instructors will make sure all the safety is taken while you are enjoying this fantastic sport. We work hard to ensure the best quality of teaching, equipment and service through the renewal of our equipment, careful crafting of our offer and selection of instructors.
Unlike other parts of the Island like Paje or Jambiani, the area of Pwani Mchangani and Kiwengwa are generally less crowded, providing all the space that the rider ever dreams about. Check out our article about kitesurf in Zanzibar here.
